Hi,

Spotting in Lisbon, and generally speaking in Portugal, is usually very pacific regarding security.
LIS has RWY03/21 (the 35/17 are closed for the moment). Usually RWY 03 is in use. This is what I do. I walk from the Terminal 1 (departures area) southbound, pass the entrance for crew member and then turn righ. Walk along the road on the side walk (there are 50m that will require you to walk on the street because of the bushes) heading west. You will pass the "Repsol" station and then the road goes to the right and down. Go that way, pass the tunel on your leftand make a left turn again. Then you just have to find a suitable place for the approach shots. This place is located on the grass next to the road, but I never had any problems at all there. To go to the afternoon spot, go back to the tunel, after passing it, gho up the street. About 500 after reaching the top of it, you will see on your right an open area that will gave clear views over the threshold of RWY03.

There is a spotting location that gives excellent views over the airport. It's located just in front of the intersection of the runways. To go there, just continue walking (as if you were going to the afternoon spot of RWY03) straight ahead, but it's a little bit far away. It's good to get rotations of departing traffic RWY03.

I assume you are now referring to spots on the south side of the airport and on the west side? To reach these spots, you can also go to Metro station ´Campo Grande´ and follow the main road (highway ring road of Lisbon) due East. There is no footpath, but many people use the side to walk. I think it is a bit faster than from the terminal and easier to get to. The aiport is not (yet) connected to the metro system, but Campo Grande you can reach with the Green and Yellow lines from downtown in about 20 minutes.
