On the 7th of october also two C-17's (USAF) were seen and one unknow C-295 (AdlA) and the AW-319 Qatar.
(only one is present?) Also besides the Mir.2000's the two F-1's were noted under the sun sheds.

Can any of you guys tell me what 'spotting' at Souda is like? Is it possible to view without trouble from security/police and if so where?

Many thanks everyone

No flying took place today and 2 off based F16's were noted in each HAS area. Quite disappointing, however finding the Qatari detachment still here made up for it.
The helicopters are parked very close to the civil terminal
QA32, QA33 Westland Commando
QA67, QA68 AW139
The Mirage 2000'S were parked nose on, across the runway and were easily seen from the hilltop above Mouzouras village. As you get to the top of the hill, the track breaks to the right and the left, both offering excellent views across the base and that of the American ramp. The track to the right offers restricted views of 3 preserved a/c. One an F4 (is this 68-424 which was previously at the main gate?), an F84 + 1 other a/c. All are camo c/s. 2 of the a/c are visible on google earth at 35.525558 24.145273. F84F coded 815, silver c/s) in the 340 mira area can also be seen. T33 53155/TR155 which usually sits in front of the maintenance hangars, across from the US ramp, was not noted. moved or scrapped ?
The track to the left offers good views of another preserved a/c, visible on google earth at 35.527620 24.146148. I believe this to be an F5. The preserved orange c/s T33 inside the main gate can just be seen.

US ramp.

62-3575/ZZ KC135
62-4138/OF RC135
64-14847/OF RC135

50+33 C160D GAF all white c/s, at the civvie terminal

preserved at the main gate, all easily seen.
155774 TA7 where the F4 used to be,
(58683)/TR683 T33A orange c/s
(36745)/745 F84F

Further down the hill, on the RHS, beyond the T33 was another preserved a/c. Only caught a glimpse of this one, poss an A7?

340 Mira area -

hangar - 512 and 537 F16's.
ramp - 526 and 614 F16's.
o/s a HAS 533 F16.

Hope the above will be of use to someone.

Regards,

Bill.

There are some pointers to GPS coordinates. Nothing about security but it is Greece so caution is advised..
