Cape Town Harbour visit

Post by Shirley »

Hi all,

Over the past week(s) the South African Navy has had an excercise together with the Indian and Brazilian Navy.
Several planes and helicopters were deployed from the South African Navy and Air force.

Some of the participating ships visited the harbour of Cape Town and during 24 - 26 of September the ships were open for the public. I had a look this afternoon to hopefully see something. Unfortunately out of the six ships in total only four of them had there hangars open and excessible. Two of these were SA Navy ships with nothing on them as all Lynx's were still at Ysterplaat for the air show. Then the following could be seen on the Brazilian and Indian ships;
Ship named: Niteroi - Lynx N-4006 Brazilian Navy
Ship named: Mysore - Sea King IN523 Indian Navy

Pretty sure the other two ships had something on board as well, but I was already really happy with these two surprises on the last day of my perfect holiday in South Africa.
