Middle Eastern carrier Emirates is now allowing passengers to fly on its very light jet
to regional destinations with the launch of its new on-demand charter service.

The airline hopes to draw customers by offering flexibility, convenience, privacy, and comfort
for travelers looking to make short trips from Dubai.

The airline is using its Embraer Phenom 100 jets for the program.
The aircraft seats up to four passengers
and will fly to destinations within the Emirates network and other area airports where necessary.

The Phenom 100 is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW617F1-E engines,
which can fly up to 1,178 nautical miles (2,182 km) when fully loaded.

This opens up many points across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and within the UAE.

The aircraft will be based at Dubai's Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC),
allowing customers the convenience of a Dubai location
without navigating through the carrier's central hub
at the city's primary gateway of Dubai International Airport (DXB).

Up to four passengers at a time can travel on the jet.
Passengers are allocated a baggage allowance of one medium-sized bag weighing up to 15kg (33 lbs)
and a carry-on handbag or personal item.

All passengers will have access to a stocked selection of light bites and refreshments for their journey.
The small jet also features a lavatory for passenger convenience.

The Classic Learjet Foundation, a nonprofit group of current and former Wichita aerospace workers
seeking to restore the first production Learjet (23-003),
has raised enough money to purchase the aircraft.

“The financial acquisition of the aircraft completes a major goal of the Classic Lear Jet Foundation's mission
to restore and operate the world’s first purpose-built business jet
as part of a living flight history program,”
said foundation president Bill Kinkaid. “

This milestone comes less than one year after the creation of the foundation in August 2022.”

The foundation negotiated a sale price of $90,000 with the Learjet 23’s former owner,
who had stored the light jet for years, knowing its historical significance.
It had last flown in 1998.

As of June 2023, the group was still approximately $50,000 from its goal
when it invited legendary Learjet owner and aviator Clay Lacy and Lynn Krogh,
founder and CEO of International Jet Services,
to Wichita to view 23-003 in the Bombardier Learjet delivery hangar
where it is being stored prior to restoration.

In mid-July, Lacy and Krogh, along with Bill Lear’s daughter-in-law,
inspected the airplane and received a presentation on the foundation’s plans for it.

The pair became the primary acquisition sponsors, making up for the shortfall in purchase funds.

While the engines had previously been removed and sent for overhaul,
the restoration process on the airframe itself will now commence.

Textron announces option to sell up to 1,500 Cessna Citation aircraft to NetJets

Textron Aviation and NetJets on Wednesday
signed an agreement which would give the private jet firm owned by Berkshire Hathaway
an option to buy up to 1,500 :!: additional Cessna Citation business jets
over the next 15 years.

The deal for Cessna Citation business jets, which are designed, produced and delivered by Textron,
could be valued at approximately $30 billion :!: , according to analysts at Jefferies.

The deal extends NetJets' existing fleet agreement and includes options for an increasing number of aircraft each year, allowing it to expand its fleet with Cessna Citation Ascend, Citation Latitude and Citation Longitude aircraft.

Deliveries of the Citation Ascend are expected to begin in 2025 when the aircraft, currently under development, is expected to enter into service.

De rechtbank in Haarlem heeft Silver Flight woensdag failliet verklaard.
De Nederlandse luchtvaartmaatschappij, gevestigd op Schiphol-Oost,
voerde privévluchten uit met een aantal Pilatus PC-12’s.

De onderneming ging in 2020 ambitieus van start, maar de toekomst lijkt nu uiterst onzeker.

Dassault Aviation’s Falcon 6X Enters Service

Dassault Aviation’s Falcon 6X ultra-long-range jet has officially entered service, the company announced Dec. 4.

The widebody aircraft received type certification by the FAA and EASA on Aug. 22.
Since then, post-certification upgrades have been applied, which required EASA approval.
The company did not elaborate on the upgrades.

The Falcon 6X entering service, aircraft number four,
appears to be a demonstration aircraft for Dassault. (The first three are flight-test aircraft.)

It is listed on the French registry with Dassault Aviation as its owner, according to Aviation Week Network data.

Eight additional Falcon 6X aircraft have been ferried to Dassault’s completion center in Little Rock, Arkansas.

The first of the five is registered to a Swiss customer and is painted with a Swiss flag on its tail.

Bombardier has secured an order for 12 Challenger 3500 super-midsize business jets from an undisclosed customer.

The deal is valued at $326 million according to list prices, and deliveries will commence in the second half 2025, says Bombardier.

Dassault Aviation saw orders for both business jets and Rafale fighters slip last year,
with the airframer also failing to meet delivery guidance for both product lines.

Orders for its Falcon business jets showed the biggest year-on-year drop,
slumping to 23 aircraft, down from 64 in 2022.

On the delivery side, Dassault shipped 26 Falcon jets,
down on the 32 handed over in 2022 and against the 35 units it guided for.

That appears to have been driven by post-certification modifications required to the fuel tanks of the new Falcon 6X,
which have led to slower than expected deliveries for the ultra-wide-cabin twinjet.

Approvals for the aircraft from European and US regulators were also only received in August 2023, further slowing shipments.

Backlog for the Falcon family stood at 84 aircraft at the end of December, down three units on 2022’s total,

Bombardier rolled out the final Global 7500 produced in Downsview, Ontario,
ending an era for the Montreal-headquartered manufacturer
at the assembly facilities it inherited with its 1992 acquisition of
de Havilland from Boeing.

A spokesman confirmed that the “last fly away was this past weekend”
and that there was no more aircraft production activity at the Downsview site,
marking the full transition to its new Global jet facility at Toronto Pearson International Airport.

Bombardier is planning a formal inauguration of its $400 million, 770,000-sq-ft factory at Pearson on May 1 , 2024 , in concert with its Investor Day.

The final Global 7500 Downsview departure marks a significant milestone
for the transition to the new factory that has been methodically ongoing for months.

Bombardier, Gulfstream Pass on EBACE, but Bolen Sees Other Strong Support

All other airframers that traditionally exhibit are returning to EBACE

EBACE will look a little different this year with two of the heavyweights in the business aviation market,
Bombardier and Gulfstream,
deciding not to exhibit.

However, the annual show—to be held May 28 to 30, 2024, in Geneva—...
Bombardier confirmed yesterday that it was not exhibiting
and “is exploring various regional marketing concepts as part of our broader business plan.”

The Canadian manufacturer of the Global and Challenger business jet lines also emphasized
that it “supports the great work of both the EBAA and NBAA in key areas,
including safety, sustainability, innovation, advocacy, workforce development,
and other priorities”
and said it would continue to partner with the organizations on a wide variety of activities throughout the year.

Earlier, Gulfstream also confirmed that it had decided against exhibiting at EBACE
and similarly said it planned to
“select events in markets that align with our business objectives.”

The move to pass on the EBACE show floor and display follows Gulfstream’s decision against exhibiting at NBAA-BACE in October.

The loss of two major exhibitors at this year’s show no doubt will have an impact, but Bolen stressed, “We’ve got a lot going for us as we are moving into the show.”
Another area that will differ this year, although it may or may not be visible, is security.
The 2023 EBACE was marred when about 100 eco-protestors
cut through a security fence and swarmed onto the static display.

Seven handcuffed themselves to a Gulfstream on static display,
three attached to the nose gear and four to the cabin entry door handrails.

More secured themselves to other aircraft.
While the event was quickly contained,
it disrupted operations at Geneva International Airport and caused diversions of aircraft in the local airspace.

After the breach by protesters last year,
questions arose on whether it would impact the static display.
While Gulfstream and Bombardier have both opted against displaying,
neither have pointed to that—at least publicly—as a reason for their respective moves.
