Estonian Air shut down as of 08 nov 2015

Post by cHabu »

Following an in-depth investigation, the European Commission has concluded that aid measures by Estonia in favour of national flag carrier
Estonian Air gave the company an undue advantage over its competitors in breach of EU state aid rules. The carrier has immediately announced it ceases operation as of 8.11.15.

That's too bad, flew with them just last Sunday (1-11) from AMS to ARN via TLL on my way to UME(Umea) and it was a pleasant flight. The plane (CRJ900) was a nice plane to sit in.

Estonian Air is dead, long live Estonian Air! State-run Estonian Air ceased operations on the 7th of November 2015, after the EU ruled the airline benefited from illegal government subsidies worth €85 million. Nevertheless, Estonian Air has already reborn, but under a new name - Nordic Aviation Group, which started its operations the next day after EU decision.
