Well, here she is - the very last #QueenOfTheSkies -
@AtlasAirWW
Boeing 747-8F N863GT, now fully painted and just arrived back at Everett to resume flight testing (as #BOE704) before delivery.

The last Boeing 747 won't come until mid-February
First December, then January, now it's February 2023.

The delivery date for the last Boeing 747 has been pushed back again.
The father of the jumbo is apparently honored for this.

01/10/23 - 17:34

Originally, it should have ended in 2022.
Boeing had planned to deliver the last Boeing 747 ever produced to Atlas Air in December.

The 747-8 will operate under a long-term charter agreement with logistics giant Kuehne + Nagel .

In November it was said that delivery would be postponed to January - and now it will be later again.

The plane should be handed over to Atlas Air in mid-February 2023.
The date is provisionally set for February 16th 2023.

It is the second Atlas Air plane that will be in service for the Swiss.
But it will look different than the aircraft with the registration number N862GT, which was already delivered in November.

The final 747 will be registered N863GT and has been christened Empower by Atlas Air.

Its sister aircraft is called «Inspire».

The last 747 will mainly be in Asia, where the brand is better known than the Swiss lettering.

Joe Sutter is honored

The production history of the jumbo jet ends with the delivery - 54 years after the first flight of the Boeing 747 on February 9, 1969.

The manufacturer will then have delivered a total of 1574 examples of the jumbo jet.

Most recently, the model was only built as a freighter.
The manufacturer had already delivered the last 747 in passenger version in 2017.

For this reason, according to the Leeham News portal,
the plane will also receive another special sticker shortly before delivery.

It's supposed to honor Joe Sutter.
The aeronautical engineer was chief developer of the Boeing 747.
