Investigation into SA Airlink crash landing

Post by Henk Voortwijs »

It has been confirmed an SA Airlink plane was involved in Monday’s emergency landing near George Airport.

The airline said it would investigate what caused its 37-seater jet to overshoot the runway and crash through an airport fence, eventually coming to a halt on a nearby road.

Seven people were slightly hurt.

In September an SA Airlink plane crashed outside a school near Durban while last month one of the company’s planes left the runway in Port Elizabeth.

The Airports Company of South Africa’s Collin Naidoo said an investigation was launched.

“The Civil Aviation Authority, the SAPS and the airline would want to get closer to the problem and make the report public when it is completed,” Naidoo said.
