Post by Hans »

Budget carrier Ryanair PLC has stopped discussions to purchase as many as 200 new Boeing 737-800 aircraft after being unable to extract concessions from the manufacturer.

Apparently they were able to agree on price, but not on certain terms and conditions.
Boeing probably wanted to avoid having Ryanair selling these planes on at low prices (but still making a profit), to airlines who may otherwise purchase new aircraft from Boeing. Those actions have a rather negative effect on resale prices.

Good thing to see that Boeing (and Airbus) are not dancing anymore to the tune of this nutcase O'Leary.

He's bringing the whole industry down.

And why is that exactly?
He is just a shrewd business man and doing pretty well with his airline. Better than many others in the industry you think he is bringing down...
This certainly is a setback for him, but the sales guys of Boeing and Airbus in the end will want to sell him planes. Business is business after all.

Business don't want to get raped in the ass by some guy who thinks he's god.
Boeing knows the MOL-bluffing..

MOL wants to buy the planes as cheap as possible, by doing that, he will also lower the price on the second hand market. This will mean, Boeing/Airbus are not able to sell new planes to other customers, because they will first look at the cheap second hand market and possibly request lower prices for a new order. On the end of the line, Boeing/Airbus are "de kind van de rekening". I'm pretty sure Boeing and Airbus won't sell there planes anymore to MOL/ryanair.

Haha, yes, I know many people think so, but in the end both Airbus and Boeing just want to sell planes, trust me. Last time Ryanair won due to the need for both Boeing and Airbus to sell planes. This time both manufacturers are sitting on huge back logs and are not so much in need of a huge order to keep the lines moving. Therefore Boeing could win this round, but the fight isn´t over at all. Ryanair will get new planes sooner or later and it will be either Boeing or Airbus, just for a little higher price maybe (by the way, read the news about it, the price was already determined, so that wasn´t the problem this time).

O'Leary is a nasty peice of work and his vile airline(I use the word 'airline' in the loosest possible terms) should be put out of business.

Yorden, Ryanair can not selling old Boeing, because they are least with help of a Irish Bank. Inside the cockpit is a plate hanging with the text "this plane is least and owned by the bank of ireland.

So that means all planes are on lease contract, and if that bank is going bankrupt then also Ryanair has a problem.

I also think that if Ryanair goes to Airbus the price of training the cabin crew and pilots is a lot of money what they can spent on the extra cost for the 737's.
