AB 737 off runway at Dortmund

Post by KMwecare »

Just read on NOS Teletekst (dutch):

This morning (sunday January 3rd) at Dortmund Airport, an Air Berlin Boeing 737, carrying 171 passengers, skidded off the runway. The 737 was on his way to the Canary Islands. During takeoff the pilot received a warning something was wrong. He decided to abort his takeoff, but because of snow and icy conditions at the airport, combined with the plane's speed, the airplane skidded off the runway.

All passengers got out of the plane safely. After the incident, the airport was closed.

On our way back from Austria we made a short stop around 21.00 hr at Dortmund. The Air Berlin Boeing 737 wasn't seen next to the runway. I guess it was allready removed.
