Norwegian F-16 and Russian MiG31 get very close (video)

Post by Jonathan »

On 30Nov14 the Norwegian authorities made a very short video public showing how close Russian fighters sometimes approach western jets like this Norwegian F-16. This video now has been published on a number of news sites, such as this one:
http://www.inquisitr.com/1648774/russia ... ter-video/.

Quite a stunning video!

Best wishes,

I hope that the F-16 pilots were aware of the MiGs being present...... Otherwise I'd have my doubts if our self defence capabilities are adequate.....

Couldn't it actually be the other way around? "Norwegian F-16 flying dangerously close to Russian Mig-31"? In the movie I see a F-16 chasing a Mig-31?

I find it quite remarkable that we get these kind of "Russian military aircraft are so dangerous and threatening" news messages in the past couple of weeks. It is like someone is trying to start a new cold war again. You rarely hear something about for example U.S. activity near Russia (submarine activity, spy plane activity etc.).

@Rambo. For that news we have to read Russian newspapers :-)!

Both parties show force, but at the end nothing happens. Apart from some civil casualties. It is all about money and who has the biggest. Europe is just the ball between the two!

Hmpf... heading 070 (Eastish) at fL 245 with 277 kts. The MiG flies front and is extending its airbrakes so the Falcon has to break (left in this case). Classic Topgun move...

Fact is that the probing of airspace is going on for a while now (some years!!) and even the Gulf of Mexico and Guam are being visited. The exchange rate for the Roebel is plummeting. All signs for trouble ahead...

Well, if I bump into the back of someones car, it doesn't matter if he was braking or not....it will be my fault anyway as I should have kept a safe distance..
So is the Russian the one to blame here?
