India orders C.295

According an article on nu.nl, India has placed an order for no less than 56 C.295. According to the same article, the planes will be built in cooperation with Indian Tata, but it doesn't mention if that means the final assembly will also take place in India.
No word of it on the Airbus Defence & Space website.

France vant quat referred to this in a $1.87 billion deal, but did not specify which type was involved.

When India asked for a light transport aircraft, they want to buy 16 off-the-shelf aircraft, and build the other forty in India. Don't know if these numbers are still valid when the order is confirmed.

Oh come on. UK aid to India was in the region of 200 to 300 million Euro (or Pound, whatever you like) per year. That's enough for what, 2 JSF planes? And besides, it stops this year. So please, leave the complaining remarks and stick to the news.

India is the 8th largest economy in the world. Any 'aid' they get isn't even small change. They do not depend on us for buying this stuff.

What else do you expect from the pathetic politicians running the United Kingdom?.

SDSR 2015 is not far off and that will probably lead to more cuts and base closures in the UK.
