A Chilean Air Force Bell 412 helicopter crashed and caught fire in the night of 31 July 2023.
The fire was extended into a forest.
All five occupants died.

The Chilean Air Force informs that, due to causes that are being investigated, a Bell-412 helicopter, belonging to Aviation Group No. 5, suffered an accident at approximately 8:30 p.m. on July 31 in the La Cumbre sector. , commune of San Juan de la Costa, in the Los Lagos Region.

At the time of the events, the aircraft was carrying out a night flight training mission, with a crew made up of 5 members of the Institution, who unfortunately died on the spot:
