Yep, Mig 23.

Would be better for the pilot to stay with his aircraft than jumping over Benghazi. There are a lot of angry people down there.

Some news reports talk about the MiG23 as being a Rebel-controlled jet that exploded over Benghazi.

Al-jazeera just reports that the Mig-23 was a jet of the rebels trying to attack the government forces just outside Benghazi. They say it was shot down by governement forces.

I can just think of the utter chaos in the skies there. Both sides probably just shooting at everything that moves in the skies. If our pilots go in there, they will be scared when everybody (including the rebels) will just start shooting at them.

Just saw some amazing pictures on CNN of a last minute eject over Bengazi
I say; it was a Su-24 Fencer going strait down.

A MiG-23, you can trust us. ;-)
It looks like a MiG-23BN to me and they are based at Benghazi Airport (look at Google Maps), in that case most probably a rebel jet. ('Allah is great', you can hear them yelling.)

Yep, allthough it is difficult to see, but it looks like the Libyan "Green Ball" has been painted over.
