That is the correct answer. Shelfclouds and rollclouds develop in pretty much the same circumstances, however a roll cloud is completely sepperated from the stormcell, whereas the shelfcloud is part of the cloud. A roll cloud is very rare.

Hello there,

The front of a shower closing in. Taken yesterday at Geilenkirchen. Within a few minutes after getting back inside the car, it started to rain heavily.

Yeah... why not?...
BTW, used a Nikon D300 with a AF-S Nikkor 16-85 3.5 - 5.6G ED lens.

This one below is taken about 3 weeks ago on a Ryanair flight out of Limoges - France to Charleroi - Brussels South.
