Post by Hornet69 »

Hi all,

discussed many times but finally it is official: TLP will leave Florennes and will continue on Albacete (Spain). TLP at Albacete will start end 2009 or early 2010.

See URL for the official news item on the spanish television.

So I say it's time for the people at Florennes to start to organize a " TLP farewell party" somewehere in 2009. Making it a spottersday like the recce-meets they organised very well in 200-2001. They were great.

With inviting all types that participated in all the TLP's exercises held at Florennes. It must be a nice wishlist.

But 2 more years to go till end 2009. The farmers finally get some rest in the fields at Florennes.

Rgds,

Kier.

The magazine 'Onze Luchtmacht', edition april/may has an article about TLP 2007/2 wich explanes the move to Albacete. Amongst many reasons, of course, the weather in practice-area's and the soundregulations are mentioned.

In the "Military Construction, Family Housing, and Base Realignment and Closure Program 2008" i found the following information:
DETACHED UNACCOM PERSONNEL HOUSING FAC, Albacete, TACT LEADERSHIP PROGRAM DORM (400 RM)
To me this means the building of a housing area of 400 rooms for the TLP course at Albacete for the amount of 11.7 Million Dollar. The construction should be complete by June 2009.

whole document can be found here
