Last Saterday (13th) around 16:40h the Portugese F-16 (15133) from where the pilot ejected, was towed across the runway towards the TLP-ramp/BAF F-16 flightline. It still lacked a canopy.

Hi Cis,
We where there around 10.00 local and we saw the F-16 being towed.
It's indeed missing it's canopy and also the wing didn't look that good.

Hi,

In the TLP overview the Portugese F-16AM 15133 is mentioned as w/o at 5 December, is this officially confirmed?

Anyone?

Maurits

Well, w/o for this month's TLP, but it hardly seems damaged for the long run. So I don't think so, although it's never possible to determine the true structural damage from a photo like this.

Hi Piet,

Using Scramble -standard, Cat. 3 or more damaged???
Possible better designation.

Greetz,

Well I'm not suprised with this. The weather circumstances at Florennes are terrible at the moment.

Current conditions (1025 dec 16) horizontal visibility 150 mtr and cloudbase 7/8 - 8/8 on 30 mtr !! No change from yesterday.

With the weatherforecast for tomorrow and thursday I think the ones who made pictures of this TLP with sunshine are very lucky.

We should not be suprised if this TLP will be cancelled and participating a/c will return earlier than scheduled with only 6 missions flown in 4 weeks.

Just noticed something on the picture in Iwan's post I had not noticed yet: the "bang seat" of the pilot is lying on the runway next to the firetruck; the parachute can be seen on the other side of the runway (between the F16 and the firetruck in the picture). There wasn't much forward movement when the pilot decided to eject.

that's one big expensive shovel... if you look at the topic that Iwan posted (below the picture) you can see that the right wing did some digging in the belgian mud... so it's covered with grass and mud (on the bigger foto of that f-16 you can see it clearly) so i think that was the reason the pilot ejected...

My guess the new nickname for this unfortunate portugese pilot could be "mud mover"???

Grtz..

Weather for tuesday was foggy!
Visibility did not rise above the 150 meters.
Too bad, again!

I was there today and unfortunately saw nothing through the fog.
