Hahn AB

Post by henkderidder »

As rain keeps coming down I decided to try to make some new scans.
Here are some from Hahn AB 21-05-1980 ( almost 30 years ago now: are there still some of these machines flying?)
Some spotters of Soesterberg were lucky to get a base visit. When we arrived bad news: all the squadrons did pratice night flying that fryday (!) No activity untill 1500h. When it started all the worries disappeared: from the 3 squadrons 4 or 5 aircraft came out to play. It was good to see the old 32 TFS machines again. We were there to catch them doing their last checks..... enjoy!

BTW; the pilots told us they did not mind going through the sound barrier above land: some offers have to be made for freedom.

Yuck! Glad the F4's and Hahn are history.

Just kidding Henk. What a great contribution. Hopefully there are lots of rainy days to come, I guess you'll have a few more slides to scan.

Hard to imagine now that we almost found these birds boring at EHSB.
Great pics! I especially like the "479" with the white stencilling.

Now I almost live "around the corner" and when I pass by Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn every once in a while, I get tears in my eyes  ........and this topic will not make me feel much better next time I get there.
Still, I hope there will be a lot more rainy days, allowing you to scan more of these beauties

Nice shots Henk....

Unfortunately I never saw F-4s from Hahn, only F-16s.

Regards, Rob.
