A Phantom for the Dutch Military Aviation Museum (really)

Here she is, the F-4 Phantom for the Dutch Military Aviation Museum in Soesterberg. The aircraft is still in Tucson, Arizona and will be dismantled and shipped to Holland.

first thought: :twisted: what a shame they can't get a real former CR airframe (as there are still a few around)!!!

second thought: I just hope they'll give her a great genuine looking paint job, and I'm sure she will look fab!

With the increasing amount of replicas in the MLM....... it is much better to have this real aircraft in fake markings than a fake aircraft in "real markings" :twisted:

agree, it's probably "as good as it gets", and keeping that in mind Í think it's a welcome addition indeed!

At this point in time, I would say even an F-4C in 32nd markings would be a welcome addition! Finally one is coming!

Hmm, 67-0275 is an F-4E. Not that I would mind a "thick-nosed Phantom" in the slightest... :wink:

http://forum.scramble.nl/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=69631 says that the aircraft is a MiG-Killer!! In that case I wouldn't mind seeing the original Vietnam c/s back on this spook! :worship:
(it would still represent a USAF Phantom like the ones we had at New Amsterdam...)

Interesting history of this aircraft, sadly there are some former Soesterberg F-4E's at AMARG in a better shape than this one that won't be converted to QF-4E. 1 Example: 68-0538.

Can't wait to see an F-4E in the line up of 32nd (T)FS aircraft at the museum! Suggestion for the museum director: park them in front of the shelters when the new museum opens at the airbase again. That would be nice for a stroll on a Sunday afternoon...
