Static's across the U.S.A

Post by USAIR »

With the ever growing amount of static display aircraft around the U.S.A. i would like to invite everybody to post their finding under this post , would be very nice to see what's all on static across the U.S. because it would be near impossible to capture them , although i am trying :-)

To kick things off , F-104 , Thomas P Stafford Airport Museum Entrance , Weatherford , OK

It's a C-135, not a 707 (Technically you could call it a 717, but that designation is not commonly used for C-135's).

Nice pics!

That one's a very odd mix... It's an ex-US Navy F-4B made to look like a USAF F-4D (nose), but retaining the little bulge on the tip of the tail and the mid-fuselage antenna. And, it has the exhaust feathers of a J-79-type that was never fitted on neither the 'B nor 'D-model. 8) That's what I call creative preserving!

Its serial is also fake (64-9421 or 49-0421 or whatever is was meant to represent).

Best regards,

Stephan

Stephan, serial is correct. As said it's an F-4B - BuNo is 149421 only presented USAF style.
Don't know the reason why its presented like this, but it might have been easier to get a real F-4D?

Anyway, another one of my pile of static photos - no guessing where this was taken....

Ah yes, so its serial was not so far fetched after all, thanks! 8)
