Yes, there are. How many depends on your definition of "near"
There is Uithuizen, with a preserved F-104 (D-8300), and the private airfield Oostwold with a based Stearman (N56457).
Happy hunting!

Good evening,

A few additions from my side, first of all the town of Groningen itself.
The 25th of July 2010 we visited the Stichting Museum Canadian Allied Forces 1940-1945,
located at the Ulgersmaweg 15 in Groningen. Inside the main hall of this private museum
(openened at Sunday's only, admission free) was noted one complete airframe:
K6285/V Avro Anson (camouflaged, Observer Corps titles)

Secondly at the airport of Groningen-Eelde the fuselage of a Friendship was seen, used by the local
fire services;
(SE-KZD) Fokker F27 Friendship mark 100 c/n 10245 (ex RICAS Oudehaske, ex Woensdrecht)

The McDonald's in Groningen at the Atoomweg 1 used to have an ex German Reims/Cessna F172G
(D-EJPA, c/n 0203) painted in full McDonald's colours (!), unfortunately this one was gone the 25th of July........

The ex NVA MiG-21SPS (22+39/898. c/n 94A5510) wich used to be at the now defunct 1939-1945 museum in Uithuizen has been transferred to Overloon some time ago, as has the ex RLS Beech D18S (PH-UBY c/n A-101) at Den Ham wich has been transferred to Zevenaar.

To be more precise about Starfighter D-8300 in Uitzhuizen:
Marte Röling & partners VOF, Oude Dijk 6 Uithuizen. The Starfighter can be found in the
garden at the back of this large house, itself being according to Dutch standards almost 'in the middle of nowhere"....! I visited this location once in the month of May, and found the 104 due to trees/bushes quite difficult to spot, without chance of taking pictures.

Remco

Hm... didn't know about the Anson (or the museum... for that fact) :|

A small nitpicking remark though.... Groningen-Eelde Airport is not in the province of Groningen, but in Drenthe 8)

Hi,

Was very much aware of Eelde being in the province of Drenthe instead of Groningen,
but as the original question was W&R near the city of Groningen I added this one as well :P
By the way: any help with the ID of the Anson would be appreciated, searched extensively the net but beside K6285 fitting in a range of original delivered Avro Anson Mk I's nothing else could be found so far!

Hi Remco,

That sound interesting, I never heard of tat museum OR that Anson. Is it a real one? I did some Googling, and found that K6285 served with (Dutch) 321 squadron during WW II and crashed in 1940 (on the 5th of July to be exact). It would be nice to know wether this is the fuselage of the original one!

The only day this year the museum is still open is this coming saturday, the 25th of september (according to their own website)
There's also a small picture of the Anson (of which the website states that they acquired it via a swap with the Aviodrome!)

Hi all,

The Anson 1 at the museum is the former VM352.
The trade took place around 2008.
It had serial "D-26" during its stay at the Aviodrome and the Autotron.

Btw.....
Address of "Stichting Museum Canadian Allied Forces" changed !
They moved to the other side of the road.
New address:
Ulgersmaweg 51 (was 15)
9731 BL Groningen

...only had my cell-phone (without flash) with me, so...not very great pics but just to give an impression how this Anson is displayed there.

Also seen in this museum in Groningen....you tell me what it is....
