Roof of Museum "Point Alpha" collapsed under snow.

Post by Gerard »

On my way to work I just heard on the radio that yesterday (28DEC2010) the roof of a display-hall in this museum in Rasdorf (Germany) collapsed under the thick layer of snow.
Two helicopters and a vehicle were reported damaged.

As far as I know a BGS Alouette 2 (D-HIBE) and a US Army OH-58 (69-16338) are on display here.

That's correct but the choppers are on display outside.
On Googlemaps there are a few pics from this museum.

Old pic!
They built a "shed" in the meantime.

And a pic in a German online paper (link elsewhere on this board) shows at least the OH-58 as smashed up.

A message in a local newspaper this morning states that the Commander of the US Army in Germany already promised to help replace (or repair if possible) any damaged display-items.
