REQ: Chateaudun + Italy

Post by erik_kamphuis »

Hi,

I have a few questions about some W&R:

Chateaudun (visited june 22):
1. At the BDRT area should be 2 Mirage F1C's (beside 1 F1CR): 33 and 68. We only saw one last june, the one with white special marks on the tail. EMOOS 2007 says at page 108 that 68 had special marks. Can anyone confirm if 68 still has this s/c?
2. At the dump we saw a Mirage in sort of desert colour with a code like 320 written on the fuselage. EMOOS 2007 says at p.104 there should be a Mirage 3E in special colours with 320 written on the fuselage, ID unknown. Anyone if it's ID now is known?

Italy (to visit late August):
Bolzano:
Scramble 399 says there is an Army AB206 (MM80620/EI-559) preserved on base in front of 54 Gr SOR room. Is this helo visible from outside the base, and if so from where? From the Carabinieri gate maybe?
Ghedi:
At Ghedi there are some Tornados stored outside (and inside). Is known what serials are outside on/near the flightline? MM7016/6-20 was last noted stored May 2012 near the flightline? Are the Tornados in the sunshed shelters active or stored and are serials known?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Erik, I am the one who is respobsible for the Ghedi report and I think the ones parked under the sheds in may were stored ones as well, as the runway was closed for five months and all operational Tornados went to Piacenza. Normalky 10+stored are on the flightline and during may only one was on this line parked.

Hi,

I was at Ghedi late august 2011 and saw 1 camo and 1 grey Tornado on/near the flightline. In the sheds were 5-6 Tornados, so probebly all 8 stored I saw. Anyone for those serials ( if they didn't rotate)?

AB-206 at Bolzano I don't think you will can seen it from Carabinieri

Ghedi
STORED line....Tornados sometime are rotated , many of these are aircrafts waiting for maintenance plus some WFU

Tornados in the sunshed shelters are active

Ghedi has been reopened only on 03 August 2012 and Tornado came back to home from Trapani and Piacenza . Ghedi is now CLOSED as NOTAM

Oke, thanks for the answers all.

Another question:
While driving towards/from Italy next week I will pass the German town Lauben (8km N of Kempten). In the Illerporadies Zoo (Dietmannsriederstrasse) G.91R 31+74 is stored in a parc. Anyone if it will be visible if the parc is closed, as I come there on a sunday and than it should be closed!
