CFB Cold Lake 2015 Mil

Post by Ronaldsnl »

Spent around 1,5 day here, had a great time. Most of the time I stayed at the viewing area within the public accessible base area. You have a nice overview here but a massive fence hinders proper photography and the sun is against you between 11AM and 4PM. So I also found some other nice area's for taking pictures. Pictures will follow soon.

Following was logged May 11 morning and May 13 whole day.

CT-155 419 sqn: 155205, 155206, 155212, 155213, 155217, 155221. 155208 in hangar.
The guys from 419 sqn were flying good, with 4 flights a day with each 4 a/c.

A-Jet 414 (EW)sqn Top Aces: C-GUTA/147, C-GYTO/082. Two others on the platform could not be read due to heatwaves.

CF-188 410 sqn: 188749
CF-188 409 sqn: 188753, 188793, 188767
CF-188B 410 sqn: 188918, 188924, 188927, 188930, 188932, 188937, 188940.
CF-188B AETE: 188936
It looked like 409 sqn was deployed somewhere else, the 3 a/c noted only landed.

CH-146 417 sqn: 146415, 146417 yellow SAR
CH-146 AETE: 146403 Red/white/black

Visitors:
CC-130J: 130606, 130614
Beech 200 MEUF: C-GDNH/209

Preserved:
CT-133 133413/572, on the military part on the base. This is strange because the real 133413 is preserved in Cold Lake museum. Real ID anyone?

CC-129 12959 Pinnochio, beautifull restored.
CF-101 101056 416 sqn
CF-100 18761 410 sqn
All near entrance to military part.

CT-133 133094
CF-188B 188905
CF-116 116736
All at main gate on a pole

Cold Lake Museum
CT-133 133508 AETE Red/white/black
CF-116 116704 419 sqn
CT-114 114114 2 FTS
CT-134 134241
CT-133 133413 AETE, and this should be the real one.
The museum was closed during my visit but the gate was open so these are the only a/c who are outside. This museum you can find near Canadian tire, turn right at Tim Hortons and straight on.

Cheers

Noted here on a beautiful sunny day on May 20th were the following:

Hornets: 188735, 188758, 188767, 188785, 188918, 188927 & 188931
Hawks: 155212, 155213, 155217 & 155221
Chinooks: 147303, 147304 & 147305
Griffin: 146415 (Rescue)
Tutors: 114128/X (AETC) & 114166 // Correction (May 27th): 114128 should read 114126/X.... heat haze versus too small monitor..
Globemaster: 177704

Plus Alpha Jets 040/C-GITA, 069/C-GLTO & 082/????

More was seen (including lots of preserved stuff) but not read off unfortunately...
Will post units and serials of preserved aircraft when I get home!

Also there on May 20th was CF-104 104880 in 441Sqn marks. She didn't exactly look new.... But has she been placed here last week? :?

CT-133 21181 used to be here, amongst the CF-101, CC-129 and others. As far as I know it was always in original colours though, no fake registration.

And the F-104 at the same location should be the 104816. It is a composite airframe though, maybe it is wearing another serial.

Thanks for the updates Erwin! The T-33 at the main entrance to the 'Restricted Area' is indeed 133181 (not marked 21181). I forgot to mention this!
But there is another T-33 inside the fences, not far from the Viewing Area which is wearing 133413 on her tail. I couldn't really see what (and if) she had on her nose though..

I see! There is yet another one. So one at the main gate, one near the gate to the military area and the one near the runway area. Wasn't aware of that one to be honest, so indeed it is not the one I mentioned.

Oeps, forgot to mention the 104.

According a Canadian spottersforum the real CT133 133413 is at the Cold Lake city museum. I have pictures of both '133413's

Cheers

As listed in WMOOS, the aircraft at the CFB with the tail marked 133413 is 133572.
