HIkam spotting ??

Hi!

I will be travelling to Honolulu area in Jan! was wondering if it is good to spot in Hickam ..... any help would be appreciated ! mainly spotting military traffic.. since they share the same runway with the civillian airport. how good is it and if there is any tip of where to go >??

Dave,

not very recent, but I was there in 1998 and the only mil I was able to spot then, was from my flight on arrival and departure.
I tried on 2 occasions during my stay to read serials from the outside of Hickam, but each time the military-police showed no understanding for our hobby.

Was there in 2007. You cannot see much into the military area. From the top of the terminal 2 parking garage you can see some C-17s. There is a public parking area at N21.31080, W157.92306. If you use Google Street View from this point you will see a lot op people standing there with big lenses (street view is from May19). It depends which runway they use and how much traffic there is. I did see only Transports and P-3s flying from that point.
