Nice report. Have you also tried to see the numerous preserved aircraft on Lackland? Are they visible from the outside?

Yes, see LOG: USA NOV 20101 day 1 and day 2. I was on base, but I think most are visible from outside.

Fort Hood, TX did you visit Hood AAF or Robert Gray AAF

All are preserved, but the L-21, L-4, OH-23 and OH-58 are inside the base museum.
