Req: spotting possibilities US east coast

Post by rogierottens »

In september and oktober we will visit the airshows in Oceana and Miramar en the fleetweek in San Fransisco. We got some questions about some bases we want to pay a visit. We only want to know if something is still based and if spotting is possible from the outside. I hope you guys out there could share some info.

Fort Belvoir (Davison AAF), VA
Richmond intl (Byrd field), VA – there used be the 149th FW with the F-16’s but there’s also an ANG part on the southside with blackhawks on google earth. The northern part houses a museum with a Tomcat, Blackbird and Corsair outside.
Fort Eustis (Felker AAF), VA
NAF Norfolk, VA
MCAS New River

Fort Bragg (Simmons AAF), NC
Pope AFB, NC – anything still based here?
McEntire ANGB, SC – is there anything based at the army part of this base? Or do they use it for summercamps? I know the 169th FW is based here.
MCAS Beaufort
Savannah intl
, GA
Hunter AAF, GA (Savannah)
Fort Stewart (Wright AAF), GA
Jacksonville intl, FL – only the ANG part.
Cecil Field, former NAS houses now the ArNG, Customs with P-3’s and USCG
NAS Mayport, FL

The request for the west coast will follow.

Thank you!

Greetings,
Rogier
