Rather late, but still wanted to share a few pics I made in the Provence region last month. After the Istres spottersday I toured the area for a couple of days. Although planes were not the main goal of this trip (wine was), I made a couple of shots that might be of interest to some of you. And yes ...

A French air-traffic controller I spoke to at Istres said they had been withdrawn from operational use 2 weeks prior. That doesn't say that there won't be a farewell ceremony though..

Volgens de crew niet, dit was zo gepland en van hogerhand bevolen. Vrijdag hadden ze een ingeplande rustdag (cultuur snuiven in Cassis en Avignon) omdat ze beide weekenddagen moesten "werken" (op de show staan). Ach, op Istres ben ik 2x gecontroleerd (tassen plus 1 fouillering) en de auto van binnen en buiten ook nog een keer, incl speurhond en spiegels voor de onderzijde..

Het heeft niet altijd te maken met toevallig in de buurt zijn. Dat gaat wel op voor de B-52 afgelopen weekend (Valley en Istres), maar de B-1 (Istres) kwam rechtstreeks vanuit Texas voor alleen deze show: donderdag heen en maandag terug, 10 uur vliegen met 1 air refueling boven Maine.

Ik tel 6 vliegers, en aangezien de 2e Sk60 geen vierzitter is (die hadden toch de gewone neusjes?) staat er waarschijnlijk nog een 3e kist achter.
