Oh yeah, the airshow twitter acct also shows pix of ED F-16 88-0456 with new tail paint commemorating 75th anniversary of supersonic flight.

They towed this one from Arizona. https://live....

Re: Death Rattlers at Lajes 03.10.2022 MIL

Cool to see a Miramar based sq halfway around the world showing the colors. 323 did an especially great job on their CAG bird. Note the diamonds on the fin flash show 3-2-3. IIRC, the Death Rattlers will be the last USMC squadron flying the legacy Hornet.

On Wednesday, September 28, at around 20:45 local time (03:18 UTC of Thursday), the Boeing 747SP, registration N747NA, owned by NASA and modified to carry a reflecting telescope for the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA), operated its last flight ever. Last science flight almo...

Re: Edwards AFB air show 15-16 Oct

A plane would be good indeed. I don't spot booths though.... ;-) Back at the last Edwards show in 2009 the Danes displayed their JSF test support F-16, so I would like to think the Brits will be able to display something. Just to be on the safe side, I made sure to get photos AND swag at Miramar.

Re: JFK, RDU, South-Florida & ATL 24-25-26sep22

My head would explode if I tried writing down all those numbers. One picture is worth a thousand reg numbers, and all that. Luckily there is plenty of room for all types of spotters. Glad to hear you got out of Florida before Ian came to visit. How was the Virgin flight to JFK? Back in 2018 I took m...

Re: Edwards AFB air show 15-16 Oct

FB page for the air show now lists MiG-29 and SOFIA (NASA 747 static AND flying, according to web page). https://www.facebook.com/avairshow Oh, I was talking to the Brits from 17SQ at Miramar (they brought a F-35B). They were not 100% sure, but they were confident they would have some presence at th...

Re: NAS North Island (KNZY/NZY) 2022

26 Sept If you're in Southern California right now, and you want to see Goshawks in the air, they are flying ~800a-700p. As much as I love the beach I was out only for a few hours in the afternoon (not to mention I was out at Miramar in the AM looking for a B-29). US Navy Training Wing 2 B2xx McDon...

Re: NAS North Island (KNZY/NZY) 2022

24 Sept Probably my sloppiest report yet. Sitting in my living room and hear prop engines that made me think a warbird came down from the Miramar airshow. Definitely NOT a C-2, C-130, King Air or anything that normally flies out of North Island, sounds more like 70-80 year old non turbo prop engines...
