Yes, Mayday for a plane with lots of pax results in a very high level of preparations.

Addition: according to @Team_Luftwaffe, 16+01 will continue on its way to Australia tonight.

Edit: Most importantly, it has been reported there are no casualties on the ground. Jet crashed just next to an appartment building.
