That would be the most logical explanation, yes. Also, a loss of hydreaulic pressure, caused by the fire, comes to mind. Or landing with a 20 degree pitch, followed by immediate full brakes would slam the nose gear on to the tarmac. That won't be beneficial... But that's all just speculation, guessw...

If you have a look at the pictures of the aircraft after the crash, I am wondering how these pilots have survived. They were very lucky and I wish them of the luck they need on their way to recovery. A few MD11 aircraft have crashed so far. Correct me if I am wrong but did all these accidents happe...

Okay, now they even mention it on the local radiostation every day. The "Frankfurt am Main" (as the first LH A380 will be baptised) will arrive as mentioned above, on the 19th around 1600lt.
