Ramstein January 3 and 4

On Sunday (3rd) this one was the first to arrive at 1330. Approach and runway lights were switched on when it was only a few miles out. http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk4/hansderee/spotting/70027.jpg The week tanker from Utah ANG departed right on schedule. No wonder it carried nose-art 'clock t...

ETAR 23-12

At Ramstein yesterday the snow was melting and the sun only showed for very short spells. A pity, cause there was quite some traffic. Runway in use was 27 until the end of the afternoon when they switched to 26. Credits for the (unedited) pics to my son Leo. Visiting J model of the RAF http://i276.p...

Re: ETAR 23-12-2009

We are much more into the visual (i.s.o. aural) way of spotting.
It will get you cold feet, okay.
For pics see the relevant section, e.g. for proof of serials of new J models.

Re: Geilenkirchen December, 9th

Both other tankers were from Tennessee and they apparently use the Soda callsign.
Gender of the tanker has not been determined by me. I really wonder how this should be done.

Geilenkirchen December, 9th

Just after sunrise replacement tanker 91448 arrived. Unfortunately no hardware moved during this lovely spell of winter light. http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk4/hansderee/spotting/P1140604.jpg Just before the rain arrived this tanker departed, probably homeward bound under Soda callsign. http:/...

Re: EHVK 19-11-2009

Like predicted they departed today around noontime.
As they backtracked on the parallel runway, we were in the right place for photos.
Thanks Otto.

Re: QUESTION RE GREEK AF OPEN DAYS

Last year we had formal approval with us to make pics of static at Nea. The local security chief (driving in a Mercedes) was not very happy and is very much anti-spotters. After consulting Headquarters at Athens we were allowed pics of static, but were followed at every footstep, and in the car both...

Nice autumn weather, a perfect spot at the local soccer club of Hallignicourt. Within 30 minutes after our arrival four Rafales landed. Two-seater http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk4/hansderee/spotting/STDiz5.jpg And another one http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk4/hansderee/spotting/STDiz7.jpg...

Ramstein in the mist

Friday 23 oct 2009: foggy weather. The first movement was probably the best of the day. C130H west-, probably homebound to Cheyenne http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk4/hansderee/spotting/ETAR1_filtered.jpg About ten C17 moves, among which this one from Dover http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk4...

Re: New B-52 squadron to be activated at Minot

At Minot Open Day last July I purchased a 69th BS T-shirt. No aircraft were seen sporting squadron colors, but crews may already be working up (and designing T-shirts that may not be 100% politically correct: "We make nightmares").
