Re: The very last week at Cambrai

Another lovely airbase gone where just like Reims, no matter where you were at the base or which plane was on the picture, it was always immediately obvious where it was taken. The church of Epinoy or Haynecourt, the typical fields of northern France.. Always been very fond of Dassault designs (few ...

Re: [MIL] 2012-03-15 Cambrai LFQI

It's possible that 115-YS and another Orange bird (115-KC) are TDY at Cambrai as they are to perform the demo for the ceremony next week. YS has been seen a few times at Cambrai last week.

Re: Advice on scanner choice

Hi both, thanks for your replies. I ordered its predecessor, a 2nd hand 3000 model. Indeed no PC uplink, but for 60 euros still in the box, an AC and car adapter I think it's a good and affordable start. If I enjoy this new hobby I will probably invest in a new 3500 later on. Does anyone know of a g...

Advice on scanner choice

Dear all, I am about to add a new dimension to an old hobby and invest in a 2nd hand scanner. I am considering this type: Uniden Bearcat 3000xlt, which is relatively low-priced on the 2nd hand market. Please give me some advice based on the following criteria: - budget (50-100 euros max) - military ...

REQUEST Boscombe Down (managing expectations..)

Dear UK spotters, I'll be in the area of Boscombe Down in September and was wondering if Qinetiq/ETPS still use the 2 former 111Sqn F3's. Besides that, I am looking for regular logs, incl locals, to give an indication of daily activities. Pondering to drive to Brize directly or take the chance at Bo...

Re: Wittmund Oct 24

Thanks gents. Yes the QRA's came in with a very tight turn on the morning mission. Unfortunately for Iwan & co, who positioned themselves in the inside of that turn, it was less spectacular on the afternoon recoveries.

Wittmund Oct 24

Finally made some time to post a few of mine of this normal but nice day at Wittmund. Not yet full autumn colours in the background but perfect light and standard operations. First day at this base ever without a military visitor/overshooter but the A-4 made up for the limited variety, as always. ht...

Re: Vietnam Air Force Yak's @ Nha Trang

L39s moved slightly to the north. They are nowadays based in Dong Tac airbase, Tuy Hoa city, Phu Yen province. Again, very close to the coast!

Re: Vietnam Air Force Yak's @ Nha Trang

Hi Stefan, apparently there have been Fitters at Cam Ranh in the past. But I am not sure if this was permanent, prior to Phan Rang, or just a deployment (runway repairs at Phan Rang?). And yes, wouldn't it be great if we could have been near Cam Ranh in the 80s: Floggers and heavy bombers!

Re: Vietnam Air Force Yak's @ Nha Trang

Could the shelters/sun-sheds at Cam Ranh be the old Su22 area?

I heard the same thing when I was in Nha Trang; the base is due to close. Not only to build hotels, also to avoid noise pollution for the tourists (reason for the L39s to leave).

Re: Vietnam Air Force Yak's @ Nha Trang

Hi all, the L39 are since some years stationed elsewhere, Phu Cat was mentioned as a possibility but I have never heard of any actual sightings there. Also on satellite images the base looks deserted. So where are they now? From Wikipedia: " * Nha Trang Airport - closed in 2005 and replace by Cam Ra...
