Re: Japan Airshows 2019

Trevor, > Trying to plan a trip around the Dec 1st Hyakuri Air Show. > Is it normal practice for the military to not fly the day after the air shows? It isn’t a hard rule for bases to have a day or two hiatus after a show, but I would recommend planning to visit the base on other days. > wondering i...

Re: Japan Airshows 2019

> in relation to the fleet review, do you have any idea on the exact dates when this will be held and where will the aircraft that will participate be based from? If you search for “JMSDF Japan Naval Parade 2015” on YouTube, the last few minutes of arronlee33's video give an idea of what could take ...

Re: Japan Airshows 2019

Re: Japan Airshows 2019

Looks like Hyakuri have announced the date of their show:
"Expected" (according to Google Translate) on 1st December:

https://www.mod.go.jp/asdf/hyakuri/pr.html

Further details of the show should be posted there when they are available.

Re: Japan Airshows 2019

I doubt they will celebrate the JASDF Museum being open for 20 years by closing it. But it wouldn’t surprise me if access to the museum itself and any on-base provisions is by invitation or prior application. But as the page which links to the flyer http://www.mod.go.jp/asdf/airpark/eventnews/ Says:...

Re: Japan Airshows 2019

That will be at Hamamatsu Air Base. For the Saturday before the Hamamatsu air show last year, they fenced off the area to the west of the JASDF museum (at the south eastern side of the base) as parking for invitees to be bussed to the main show area for the dress rehearsal. I would expect them to op...

Re: JAPAN Air Shows 2018

At least the bus service to Hyakuri from Ishioka for the show was fixed, compared to the mess in 2016. The buses had a different route in to the base, which mostly separated them from private cars, and it looked like the service started earlier than the arrival of the first north-bound train into Is...

Re: JAPAN Air Shows 2018

Ricardo,

> Will it be possible to reach those aircraft on the show day?

It has been possible to reach the preserved airframes near the north eastern gate during previous shows, so I would expect them to be accessible again this year.

Re: JAPAN Air Shows 2018

Trevor, > I'm hoping to get over there to see all the Phantoms fly before they move out of that base. Their departure will be more retirement and scrapping than “moving out”, unfortunately. I would recommend hanging around the base for at least some of the week leading up to the show. I would expect...

Re: JAPAN Air Shows 2018

Trevor, To follow up on Uni’s response, while the question is too early for a definitive answer, the shows at each JASDF base do follow a formula from year to year. The last show at Hyakuri, in 2016 (no show in 2017 as they were scheduled to host the defence review instead) opened with a flypast by ...

Re: JAPAN Air Shows 2018

So the Show at Hyakuri is on the same day as the show at Nyutabaru. I guess that means Nyutabaru is unlikely to feature the RF-4 pair display it has enjoyed for the last two years.

I just hope the lack of the Blue Impulse at Hyakuri will prompt them to fly the Phantoms more.

Re: JAPAN Air Shows 2018

Looks like Tsuiki plan to hold their Open House show on 25 November:

http://www.mod.go.jp/asdf/tsuiki/kouhou ... index.html

The same day as Hamamatsu, so presumably no Blue Impulse.
