F-4E Kurnass 2000 @ Givat Olga, Israel

In memory of the 40th Anniversary of the "Yom Kippur War" the Phantom so many of you saw last year has been restored and placed on display at the "Planetarium" in this Israeli coastal town. Inside the building is Hughes 500 serial 220 (c/n 500645) also beautifully restored (and just round the corner...

Re: Thai Airways flight 679 crashlanded @ Suvarnabhumi Airpo

The usual procedure in England was to spin it to the press as the location, thus the xxx accident was forever referred to as the "Manchester" accident where an Airtours 737 caught fire, possibly aggravated by a pervailing wind, or the xxx incident where the "M1" embankment collided with a BMI 737. Re: Radom Air Show 24/25 August 2013

On Saturday, six Mig-29s took off around 12.15 from Minsk, but 4116 returned, doing numerous circuits to dump fuel (and presumably see what the problem was) whilst the other five headed for Radom. I suppose this should be in the Minsk Mazowiecki section ...

Nevatim AFB Israel, revisited

The third stage of the Israel Air Force cost-cutting plan involved merging the two C-130 squadrons ahead of the arrival of the J model next year. For the occasion 131 sqn applied their badge to many of the legacy aircraft then launched a number of the beasts on a typically hot dessert afternoon. Unb...

Nevatim AFB Israel 05August

A busy day at Nevatim with the last four "JAZZ" Eagles heading home, after which a "families day" featured a launch by well over 30 local, legacy, F-16As and Bs. Here a few low-res images, hope you liked them. Aircraft 282 with 1 and a half "kills" imageshack.us/photo/my-images/687/kxdp.jpg/] http:/...

Can't decide where to post these so unless anyone objects: The "Old Speckled Trout" (2nd a/c (after 12669, and again nick-named after a program monitor Ms Faye Trout who was apparently well freckled) routed to Ben Gurion IAP from ETAR yesterday and was just too beautiful not to get close up and pers...

A "friend" made the trek to Nevatim, as you can see, photos from outside are not easy!

... Have no fear, the others should be on their way soon, another McGuire KC-10A popped up at LLBG this morning (30082 I think - typical, you wait 16 years then 2 barges come together). As predicted the immaculate Trout 99 is also on the ramp, I´ll try to post some pix tonight.

Probably related to the return from Nevatim is KC-10A 60027 sitting alone at Ben Gurion airport right now, Sunday morning. Not a lot of activity round it.

Palmachim AFB Israel - Tzefa fly-out

Last week the AH-1 Cobra passed into IAF folklore with the disbandment of both operational units. First the 115 squadron aggressor detachment closed at Ovda, the on Friday the last operational squadron bowed out with a 16 a/c fly-out, twice, firstly comprising current aircrews, then later with 160 s...

Re: Meiringen (LSMM) - 2013 MIL

Hi guys, I was in the area last week and can report that Payerne was flying 3-4 times a day with around 10 Hornets each wave. Don´t forget the Swiss like their lunch break! Payerne also have the 7 PC-21s operating while Emmen is shut (the 8th one is at Pilatus). The only F-5s were being towed about....
