Re: Overview Tiger Meet 2010 Volkel

Anyone for the German Tornado that did not participate in today's (11 Oct) afternoon mission, but was receiving maintenance? It was parked next to 46+15 but unfortunately not readable. It is either 46+10 or 46+33!? :)

Re: Farnborough Airshow 19-25 July 2010

Anyone for the G222 that landed today (15 July) around 1030 local? Went to the southside parking afterwards.

Also the S-70 parked next to the Hercules? It's from HSM-40, I could see 000 on the nose and the code seems to begin with NK?

And the parked DHC-6, it looked Canadian?

Many thanks!

Ex Johannesburg? Dan zijn die vast opgestegen met de hoop dat ze zouden kunnen landen tegen de tijd dat ze hier kwamen, tenzij ze Warp 9 gevlogen hebben!

Re: Airfield names instead of iata/icao codes PLEASE PLEASE!!!!

Ah, that's where you mindset is wrong ! But I said '...most people...', implying not everyone and clearly you fall under that category! ;) I don't keep any database at all, as I'm an aviation photographer and not a spotter. Even if I did, I surely didn't visit each airport / airbase mentioned here....

Re: Airfield names instead of iata/icao codes PLEASE PLEASE!!!!

Looking at saving time, if one only state EHAM and ten people have to search in the database, the total costs (whole society) are much more than the costs of only one person types some more letters. For example, both actions take ten seconds, stating the ICAO code will cost the society 10*10 second...

Re: Airfield names instead of iata/icao codes PLEASE PLEASE!!!!

Euh when going to an airport you know the original name, I assume? Of course I know the original name, but to type the whole thing takes too long! That's why aviation uses so many abbs, to save time! :D Or do you also call Vnukovo approach UUWW approach McLanahan? Usually I call them 'bloody Russia...

Codes or names?

Edit : follow-up from this one . Is it that much to ask ?? Well... Since aviation is in my blood I only know how to communicate in abbreviations when it comes to the hobby (which is quite normal I'd say if you are really into it)! That would mean that I would have to go and look up what EHAM actual...

Re: Airfield names instead of iata/icao codes PLEASE PLEASE!!!!

Uhm, since our hobby concerns aviation and aviation language consists for more than 50% of abbreviations in one way or another, I don't see the problem with using ICAO/IATA codes. Besides, most of the time it concerns airfields we all (should) know by now and otherwise go to the Scramble Locations d...
