This font is just as new for AF as it is for KLM, so it is not like KLM is taking over AF house style like you are suggesting. In fact it is a nice to know that the new font is a mix of the KLM and AF font.

Coincidence that the lettertype font is the same as the new KLM housebrand ?

The a/c were full all the time, but due the financial crisis the banks were relcutant to give a loan for more aircraft. Since they needed 4 aircraft to break even and a lack of private investors the ended up in financial problems...
