Afterburner Sound! Amazing Swiss Air Force F-18 Hornet Pushed to its Limits at Jesolo Airshow 4Kᵁᴴᴰ
F-18 Hornet Solo Display Team of Swiss Air Force Piloted by Nicolas "Vincent" Rossier of Fliegerstaffel 17 "Falcons" at Jesolo Airshow 2019 with original afterburner sound.

The McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet (now Boeing) is a twin-engine, supersonic, all-weather, carrier-capable, multirole combat jet, designed as both a fighter and attack aircraft. The F/A-18 was designed to be a highly versatile aircraft due to its avionics, cockpit displays, and excellent aerodynamic characteristics, with the ability to carry a wide variety of weapons. The F/A-18 Hornet served as the baseline for the Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, its larger, evolutionary redesign.

The Swiss Air Force purchased 26 F/A-18C models and eight F/A-18D models. Aircraft were delivered from January 1996 to December 1999. Swiss Air Force McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet aircraft role identification codes are:
- F/A-18C = J-50xx
- F/A-18D = J-52xx

Captain Nicolas "Vincent" Rossier, F/A-18 pilot from Fighter Squadron 17, is also the Swiss Air Force's Hornet Display pilot for the seasons 2017-2018-2019-2020. The native of Fribourg already has 2,000 flying hours to his credit, of which 1,600 are on jet aircraft, including 1,000 on the F/A-18 Hornet.
He completed the flight preparation courses at Ecuvillens flying the following aircraft:
- Pilatus PC-7,
- Northrop F-5E Tiger II,
- Boeing F/A-18 Hornet.
Captain Nicolas "Vincent" Rossier has been assigned to Squadron 17 since 2008. For three years, he flew the Mirage 2000-5 as exchange pilot with the French Armée de l’Air. Today, he passes on his experience as a flight instructor. For his attractive solo performances, our display pilot flies the Boeing F/A-18C Hornet interceptor.
