EGXC/RAF Coningsby 06/09/10

Post by ursa_major »

Today 6sqn rolled out their first 3 Typhoons in full markings. Since the squadron formed, they have been flying with only code letters on the tail of the jets. Today, they got a little more colourful. I went across early this morning and caught the first fully-marked jet being towed out to the line (ZK307/EE) but the shots I got weren't good due to the position of the sun and the way the jet was parked. I heard a rumour from a friend on base that 6sqn would be flying in the afternoon and that more jets should be out by then, so I returned mid-afternoon. I was just in time to see 3 fully-marked jets being crewed-in, and captured the following shots as they departed and returned after a sortie lasting just over an hour.

Later this week the squadron is due to move north to RAF Leuchars.
