On 7 August 2023, a Russian Air Force Kamov Ka-52
was shot down by soldiers from the 47th Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Army
in the area of Robotyne, Polohy Raion, Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

Apparently both crew members did not survive.

Russia have lost over 100 helicopters according to the source.
Of this is over 40 Ka-52.

The figure is actually higher.

https://www.expressen.se/tv/nyheter/rys ... r-ukraina/

East of Urals have Russia not many combat aircraft.
Russias combat aircraft east of Urals are very low.

Study of air bases east of Urals shows very low figure of combat ready aircraft in service.

Russia admitting one aircraft damaged

I am not a specialist in fire fighting, but regarding the smoke cloud, it doesn't look to be a small fire.

Soltsy air base is a former Tu-22M3 base. It is abandoned with no bombers on base.

Today is no Tu-22M3 based there. Nearest Tu-22M3 bases is Shaykovka and Ryazan-Dyagileovo. These two bases is between Ukraine and Moscow.

But Soltsy has a large missile handling station with several buildings. It could be a base for Kinzhal missile handling.

On base is also a derelict MiG-31 in parts. Talks about that on this side.

On another place than the missile handling stations is very large bunkers. Suppose to be nuclear handling bunkers.

Not abandoned, is kept in use. Indeed no permantly based aircraft but Tu-22 are deployed there for strikes on Ukraine.

Is these pictures new ones? A couple of years ago there was a handling accident with burning Tu-22M3.

The concrete pads have begin to erode.

The fuel system are also old.

But the base could be used to load with missiles, flying from other bases.

No smoke without fire.

You are right Erwin with the burning Tu-22M3.

The same picture as your in a Swedish newspaper.

But I am sure it has been a fuel handling accident with a Tu-22M3 a few years agoa also.

And the Earth shows a MiG-31 fighter in bits in the missle handling area.
In this side a few years ago.

All on Soltsy air base.

Ukraine intelligence service helps Russian Mi-8 helicopter pilot defect: report
A pilot of the Russian Armed Forces reportedly defected to Ukraine with his Mi-8 helicopter following an operation by the Ukrainian military intelligence service (GUR).

The story was first reported by the Ukrainian Pravda, citing “high-ranking sources within Ukrainian intelligence agencies.”

The mission lasted over six months and concluded with the Russian pilot rerouting his Mi-8 AMTSh assault transport helicopter during a logistical flight between two airbases, transporting parts intended for Su-27 and Su-30SM fighter jets.

An aircraft with Wagners Prigozjin and Utkin crashed near Kuzhenkino (BBC news). Both with the aircraft.

Just north of the crash site is a S-300 regiment with around 24 S-300 vehicles. The S-300 is fully mobile.

The aircraft also just passed the Khotilovo air base with 24 MiG-31 Foxhound and 12 Su-25 Flanker.
