Are the Vera and Dynamica the only one which can carry choppers? and are they from the same operator?

Looks like we have to improve or ship spotting capabilities ;-)

The Vera and Dynamica are two roro ships of the same company. They are capable of unloading helicopters near Lampertheim.

I've seen at least one shipment with Blackhawks from Bremerhafen which was done by a normal Rhineship.

They will leave for training (US+Germany) on January 6th.
I guess this means we can expect the helicopters early February in Europe.

Ecm
Detachment 1, Co. C, 169th Aviation (Medical) of the Pennsylvania National Guard is also involved. Their helicopters were still in the US end of January.
So we have to be hopefull, but it could be they will not change helicopters this time and the current material used will stay in Kosovo.

Ship with helicopters - 2011

Post by SWAT 11 »

Hallo allemaal,

In volgorde zoals de Chinooks van de boot zijn gekomen;

07-08744
09-08072
09-08071
09-08070
07-08745
08-08750
07-08748
09-08073
08-08751
07-08747
08-08749
07-08746

As already indicated we can expect them around 8 at Nijmegen. I've tracked these transports in the past and 8 in the morning at Nijmegen sounds plausible. So they will take the route along the river Waal. Best is to set your alarmclock and check this link: http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/shipde ... =244670236 and click on the latitude/longitude link. There you'll find the current position.

The Air Force is using two C-5B and two C-5M transports operating out of Western Europe to help US Transportation Command move Army helicopters into Afghanistan and bring others back to the United States. The C-5s will haul more than 170 helicopters during this operation, including CH-47 Chinooks, UH-60 Black Hawks, and OH-58 Kiowas, according to Air Mobility Command officials at Scott AFB, Ill. Commercial ships are carrying 159th Combat Aviation Brigade helicopters to Western Europe for loading onto the C-5s, which then fly them directly into Afghanistan. The C-5s are bringing back 101st Combat Aviation Brigade helos to Europe for loading on the ships for the trip back to the United States. The four C-5 are assigned to the 436th Airlift Wing at Dover AFB, Del.

Groeten, Paul

Dear Paul,

Those helo's we're flown from Rota to Afghanistan. I think most have arrived already. These Chinooks are new additions to the USAREUR.

Cheers,
