US Army Boeing multi year contract AH 64 15 03068 KOR Desiderio AAF 05Dec19 Andrei Shmatko 640Boeing awarded a multi-year Apache Guardian contract

On 17 March 2023, Boeing was awarded a multi-year contract to build 184 AH-64E Apache Guardian attack helicopters for the US Army and two Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers. The information provided reports on Australia and Egypt as the FMS customers.

On 3 June 2021, the US State Department made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to the Government of Australia of 29 AH-64E Apache Guardian attack helicopters and related equipment for an estimated cost of USD 3,5 billion.

Under this new contract, the US Army will receive 115 remanufactured Apaches, with an additional 15 Apaches to be procured as options. An indefinite number of Al Quwwat Al Jawwiya Il Misriya (EAF, Egyptian Air Force) AH-64D Apaches will be upgraded to the AH-64E standard. Making the correct maths on this multi-year contract, this will mean that Egypt will upgrade 25 Apaches.

Under the previous contract, signed in 2017, Boeing delivered 244 remanufactured Apaches to the US Army and 24 new-build aircraft to an international customer. Most probably, the new multi-year contract also covers a five year period, but that has not been confirmed.
