Falcon Eye 2
The exercise Falcon Eye 2, held from 24 May 2021 to 2 June 2021 at Tabuk/King Faisal Air Base (Saudi Arabia), saw the participation of four Hellenic Air Force (HAF, Greek Air Force) Lockheed Martin F-16C/D Block 50 Fighting Falcons. The fighters were operated by 341 Mira Arrow (Velos), based at Almiros/Nea Anchialos (Greece).
The Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) participated with both the F-15C Eagle and the F-15SA Saudi Advanced Eagle from 2 Squadron respectively 29 Squadron, both based at King Faisal Air Base. Also pilots from 13 Squadron based at Dhahran/King Abdullah Aziz Air Base were reported to have taken part in the exercise, but it is not known if they have brought their own aircraft.
The main goals of the exercise were Dissimilar Air Combat Training (DACT), Large Force Employment (LFE) missions as well as Offensive/Defensive Counter Air missions (OCA/DCA). Falcon Eye 2 is a follow up on Falcon Eye 1, which was held in Greece from 9 to 26 March 2021 and saw the participation of six RSAF F-15C Eagles. This is not the first time for the Greeks to train over the desert, they already participated in exercises as Blue Flag in Israel and Horus and Medusa in Egypt.
