I made this log from my notes and pics of the spottersdays. There are a few blanks (such as two Turkish C-130's on the 19th), and one of the Hueys needs confirmation. I am also not entirely certain of the exact location of each of the Turkish F-16's. It seems that some were moved around over the day...

What a nice historic pics again Gerrit. You saw a lot of operational EVO S11s on August 29th. Eleven of them actually made a farewell flight to Twenthe on that day, returning to Gilze-Rijen the next day via Deelen. Nice pics also of the Mirage 3Es. This was the first squadron exchange for 316sqn ind...

On December 8th, two RNLAF F-16's, operating out of Malbork in Poland, intercepted two Russian Su34's. On 30Nov14 the Norwegian authorities made a very short video public showing how close Russian fighters sometimes approach western jets like this Norwegian F-16. I know I may be pushing my luck now, but there are not that many people that were taking pictures at Gilze-Rijen in the early seventies... So feel free to ignore this request if you wish, but...

Very interesting pics indeed! These flights continued throughout October 1973. I know of flights on 2, 3, 4 and 22, 23 October. They seem to have coincided with Israeli ammo flights, possibly in connection with the Yom Kippur war. Still a lot of things are unclear about these events. El Al 707's vis...
