Reads like a novel. But then again, having been there quite a lot, it doesn't surprise me anymore. "ziz iz africa" 8)

It would explain why there was a terror alert in South Africa several weeks ago. Even the US embassy there was evacuated a few times.

Re: Lelystad Airport mag baan verlengen

While taxiing one of the wheel brakes seems to have jammed, causing the aircraft to make an unexpected turn onto the grass.

Re: RAF Chinook HC.2 destroyed in Afghanistan

I understand that they are anxious about certain items such as especially radio and IFF. But I doubt the enemy would have the knowledge and means to extract these items from the chopper and make use of them. Destroying the chopper seems a bit drastic compared to what a new one costs in terms of mone...

Re: RAF Chinook HC.2 destroyed in Afghanistan

Luckily the crew got out safely. Expensive choice to immediately destroy it on the ground. I can't believe anybody would expect the bearded men to fix it up and fly it. Somehow recovering the bird must have seemed to expensive or dangerous. But with the enormous shortage if transport helicopters ove...

Re: Experience regarding buying lenses from the USA?

Import duty on lenses from outside the EU is 6.7% on the total of sales price and shipping costs. That amount is the amount on which VAT (BTW=19%) is counted. So normally you should count on about 30-35% on top of the sales price. This means that right now it is usually better to just buy a lens her...

Water police is present, but I can imagine what the aviation authorities would do to this pilot if they see this picture.....

I am pretty sure he does not have a clearance for this action!
