Re the paradropping MI-8s - An MI-8 has 10 seats but they dropped 10 each at low level (round chutes) plus 10 more with rectangular chutes at high level a few minutes later. Did they land briefly to pick up or were there actually 4 MI-8s involved in the drop? I can only comment on the Saturday: No,...

Was this EC145 here all day long or did it come in around 16.00hrs?
I suppose it came in at 1600, as I saw it approaching from quite a distance and hadn't seen it around (or taking off) before.

When I went out shopping for a new lens, I was focussed at first on the Canon 100-400 or the Sigma 50-500; however, I am kind of a Murphy-victim: if there's a Monday lens around, I'm bound to end up with one and the Bigma was too much for my liking. So, thanks to advice from fellow-spotter Stefan at...

some small additions/corrections Mi8T 10437 was under camouflage netting near the line of preserved ac and helo's (behind the fence of the Press centre). It was on its belly with rotors and tail section missing. Gendarmerie EC145 "JBT" didn't leave but was relocated: at the end of the show it was pa...

almost weekend! Before I am unable to use the internet due to travelling to Kecskemet, I would like to give a big  to tomcat_hun and LHKE especially (and all others) for their efforts to keep the non-Hungarian-speaking world up to date on all matters concerning this airshow: travel, weather, g...

Very well placed, Papa Knotty (as one of the few, I guess, as I saw most of the other "usual suspects" hanging out in the 18R approach -just as I did  ). Was this inside or outside the fence?

Maleme (Crete) 2008

The state of this airfield is uncertain; its east-west directed runway doesn't have runway lighting or apparent landing aids (and no ICAO locator code), but it is still a military terrain with a small control tower. Interestingly, this was the first of the Cretan airfields occupied by the German par...
