Re: Nikon 300mm vs Nikon 300mm

Re: Phalsbourg 17-18 Sept 2011

Yeah, wouldn't it be great if aircraft manufacturers gave as much meaning to these construction numbers as we seem to do? :-) If you define construction number as the number the manufacturer sticks on a plane or plate, it is 35xx-42xx for the Gazelles If you define a construction number as a unique ...

Re: Phalsbourg 17-18 Sept 2011

Great work ! Some remarks: * As far as I know the Gazelle c/ns are in the 1000-2200 range. The SA342M/L probably received serials starting with 3/4 to avoid confusion with the SA341F. They were partly being build during the same period. So 1544 is a SA341F serialled 1544, but 1546 a SA342M serialled...

The one and only true An-2 meet is indeed at TEUGE. Which can be seen on our Airshow calendar! The venue's site is here: http://www.classicwings.nl/AN2meeting2011.php And for Friday August 12 it says: <quote> Picking-up time tbn from hotel directions Deventer Twello etc. Briefing 0930-1030* 1100 Hoo...

Probably at Zaporizhzhya-Shiroke 47.916746°, 34.968492°
Nearby Zaporizhzhya-East is also a treat: 47.861781°, 35.297125°
Use bing maps instead of GE :-)

Re: Marseille-Marignane (LFML) - 2011

Yep, the first AF example is indeed 8510. To make it easier for all of us, the Army uses the designation HM-4 (16x transport), the Air Force uses H-36 (16x csar & transport) & VH-36 (2x VIP) and the Navy UH-15 (8x transport) & UH-15A (8x surface warfare). The absence of any further sightings seems t...

Re: Marseille-Marignane (LFML) - 2011

I just discovered that the BRA002 was worn by F-ZKBG (or the other way around) in the 14-16 June 2010 timeframe. By October 2010 it was F-ZWBR. So, I guess I was a bit premature with my previous answer... F-ZWBL is BRA001, also for Brazil. Not sure which serial is/was allocated to that. F-ZWBS is N-...

Re: Marseille-Marignane (LFML) - 2011

Some small corrections on Michiel's log: F-WWOG = c/c TWN001 (corr), from photo SSWA01 = BSWA01 (corr), was a misread on my part, it was in the far back of the hangar ;-) The AS350 could also be Ecuador Army as the roundels resemble each other from a distance and Ecuador is a known Ecureuil operator...

Re: Izmir 4-5 June - 100 years TuAF - Logs

The Cobra sub variants are not very well known to most and cause lots of mistakes. I delved into the type some years ago. Mainly based on the book US Army Aircraft since 1947 (Stephen Harding, Airlife, 1990) and an old BAR-overview. There were no less than four main AH-1S variants: AH-1S(modified) 2...

Just to let those interested know: the six Qatari Mirages are still there and parked outside on the south side ramp. East of that are the French M2000D and 2000-5Fs.
The north side is the US area with some E-3s and RCs present.
Go catch 'em !

Melbourne Intl airport (KMLB), Florida - 2011

No less than 47 Hueys have surfaced here. Most came from Temple-Daughon or are on DOS charge at Patrick AFB. One area holds 17 whereas the other holds 30. Recent GE imagery clearly shows the lay-out (see 28° 5'49.50"N, 80°37'59.84"W); I have tried to refer to these rows as follows: The uneven rows a...
